*sobs violently*
His vision is blurry, and he can’t feel any of his limbs. It’s cold and wet, and he realizes he’s bleeding, he’s bleeding and everything is red. He rolls his head to his side and sees the whole world staring back at him, blue eyes wet with tears.
“Cas.” he says, but it’s garbled and barely a squeak.
Cas smiles slightly, face hard to recognize under the blood and grime, “We…we did it.” he whispers, “We won.”
Dean shakes his head as his world closes their eyes, “I can’t lose you too.”
“Sam’s…in heaven.” the angel mumbles before his eyes open back up.
“Where will you go?” he tries, and it hurts to breathe.
Cas blinks offers a smile, “Guess we’ll find out.”
“No,” Dean chokes, “Cas I need…I need you.”
“It’s over,” he says, breath labored, “I’m glad…I met you.”
“Cas.” Dean cries, “…I-”
“I know.”
Dean shakes his head and grabs the angles hand, “I love you.”
The angel smiles and closes his eyes, “And I love you, Dean Winchester.”
He turns away, because it hurts too much to see his world die. The air is thick with heat, but it’s silent side his breathing. Cas’s hand is heavy in his hand but he doesn’t let go. It’s just him in the middle of the field, and the sky is dotted with stars that seem brighter than usual.
Dean looks to his left and sees his little brother’s face, almost looking like he’s sleeping. But Dean knows he’s not. He feels all his pain subside and smiles at his world while holding the love of his life’s hand.
“I’ll see you there, Sammy.”
